Saturn Return Calculator
Find the exact dates Saturn comes back to the degree it held when you were born. Retrograde motion can make the return exact up to three times, so the calculator lists every pass, your age at each, and when Saturn enters and leaves your Saturn sign.

What a Saturn Return Is
A Saturn return is the period when Saturn comes back to the zodiac degree it occupied when you were born. Saturn takes about 29.5 years to travel once around the zodiac, so everyone meets it at the same points of life: around 29, around 58 and, for those who live long, around 88.
In astrology Saturn describes structure, limits, time and the commitments that give a life its shape. Its return completes the first full turn of that cycle. People often describe the first return as the moment the life they inherited and the life they are choosing come into view side by side. It is a period that asks for honesty about what you are building and why.
How Long a Saturn Return Lasts
The exact passes are the center of the return. Most astrologers count the whole period from the day Saturn enters your natal Saturn sign to the day it leaves, which takes about two and a half years. A wider view starts when Saturn comes within a few degrees of its birth position, usually a year before the first exact pass.
The calculator shows both: every exact pass, and Saturn's entry into and exit from your Saturn sign around each return.
Why Some Saturn Returns Happen Three Times
For about four and a half months each year Saturn appears to move backward against the stars, because Earth overtakes it on the inside track. If your natal degree lies inside one of these retrograde loops, Saturn crosses it going forward, again going back, and a third time going forward. If it lies outside the loop, Saturn crosses once. Either way it is one return.
A three-pass return tends to be read as a slower, layered period: a theme appears, returns for review, and settles on the final pass.
The First, Second and Third Saturn Return
The first return, between ages 27 and 30, is often read as the passage into adult authorship: the structures of early life are measured against what you actually value, and some are kept with new conviction while others are set down.
The second return, between 56 and 60, tends to turn the same questions toward meaning and what deserves your remaining effort. Many people find it a time to simplify, to mentor, or to give form to what they have learned. The third, around 88, is a review of a whole life.
Questions for Your Saturn Return
Saturn's return describes the quality of a period and invites slow, practical reflection. Which of your commitments would you choose again today? Where are you carrying a responsibility that was never yours, and where are you avoiding one that is? What would it mean to take your own life seriously without becoming heavy about it?
Patience is Saturn's virtue. Whatever is genuinely yours tends to become clearer when you stop rushing to settle it.
How This Calculator Works
Enter your birth date and, if you know them, your birth time and place. The calculator finds Saturn's longitude at your birth, then every moment until age 100 when Saturn returns to it, squares it or opposes it.
Without a birth time, Saturn is placed where it stood at noon on your birth date. Saturn moves at most about eight arcminutes a day, so the dates rarely move by more than a few days, but near a station they can move further. The calculator recalculates for the first and last minute of your birth day and tells you how far the dates can move.
Positions come from the engine behind every Selfgazer chart: VSOP87 planetary theory through Astronomy Engine, with Chiron from Swiss Ephemeris tables. Against the Swiss Ephemeris the planets agree to within half an arcminute. Each pass is found by scanning the planet's path and narrowing every crossing of your natal degree to the minute, with a finer scan around each station so a brief touch before the planet turns is not missed. Your birth time is converted with your birthplace's historical time zone rules.
Saturn Return Questions
What Is a Saturn Return?
A Saturn return is the period when Saturn comes back to the exact zodiac degree it held at your birth. Saturn needs about 29.5 years to circle the zodiac, so the first return comes in your late twenties, the second in your late fifties and the third in your late eighties.
At What Age Does the Saturn Return Happen?
The first Saturn return is exact between ages 27 and 30, the second between 56 and 60 and the third between 86 and 89. The exact age depends on where Saturn was in its orbit when you were born: Saturn moves faster near the Sun, so returns from some signs come a little sooner than others.
Who Has a Saturn Return in 2026?
Saturn moves between 26°09' Pisces and 14°44' Aries during 2026. A first Saturn return reaches people born between March 7, 1996 and May 6, 1997, or between November 9, 1997 and January 21, 1998, who are 27 to 30 during 2026. A second Saturn return reaches people born between May 5, 1966 and September 20, 1966, or between January 28, 1967 and March 30, 1968, who are 57 to 60 during 2026. A third Saturn return reaches people born between March 24, 1937 and May 26, 1938, or between October 7, 1938 and February 17, 1939, who are 86 to 89 during 2026.
How Long Does a Saturn Return Last?
The exact passes fall within about a year, or on a single day when there is only one pass. Measured from Saturn's entry into your Saturn sign to its exit, the return lasts about two and a half years.
Why Does My Saturn Return Have Three Dates?
Saturn turns retrograde for about four and a half months every year. When your natal degree falls inside that backward loop, Saturn crosses it three times: forward, backward and forward again. All three passes belong to the same return.
Do I Need My Birth Time?
No. Saturn moves so slowly that your birth date is enough for dates accurate to within a few days. Adding the time and place makes the natal degree exact and shows which house of your chart Saturn returns to.
Is the Saturn Return a Bad Time?
It has a reputation for being hard because it asks for maturity and honesty. Astrology describes the quality of a period. Many people look back on their Saturn return as the time they began living by their own measure.
